hi! we’re here to support your well-being

Are you someone who is looking to feel heard and understood from someone who really gets it? Maybe you’ve been feeling the impact of trauma, especially childhood wounds, but don’t know what to do to start healing? Or maybe you’re overwhelmed with intrusive thoughts and can’t stop them, no matter how many times you seek reassurance?

You’re in the right place! I’m Marissa, the owner of Peaceful Pines Counseling & Wellness. As a survivor of childhood trauma and a queer, neurodivergent individual, I offer a space where our shared experiences can foster genuine connection and growth. Whether you are seeing me or one of my amazing interns, my practice is a space where you don’t have to filter yourself (cussing is encouraged!) and where you can talk about anything and everything.

Therapy with us is like connecting with a supportive, non-judgmental friend who has the knowledge and training to back up the advice given and questions asked. Our clinicians are down-to-earth, compassionate therapists, meaning no psychobabble or cold, clinical vibes - just real conversation that helps you explore your deeper world and understand yourself better.

Let’s figure out your next steps together!

EMDR trauma
therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic or distressing experiences. During an EMDR session, your therapist will guide you through a series of eye movements, sounds, or taps while you focus on specific memories or thoughts. This process aims to reduce the emotional intensity and negative impact of those memories, allowing the brain to reprocess them in a healthier way. EMDR can be effective for treating PTSD, childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions.

Marissa offers EMDR in individual sessions as well as in the intensive format. Our interns offer EMDR therapy in individual pro-bono or reduced cost sessions!

individual
therapy

We offer individual therapy sessions virtually in the state of North Carolina using a secure video platform. We accept insurance, including Aetna, NC State Health Plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Value plans, and BCBS Blue Home UNC Health Alliance insurance. We can provide a superbill for out-of-network coverage and also offer self-pay at a rate of $180 for a 50 minute session.

Our interns offer individual therapy sessions at little to no cost, ranging from $0-50 per session depending on financial need. Our interns are in their final year of their graduate program and are personally supervised by Marissa Hall. This is a great option for affordable care!

Walk & talk therapy is also available in the Raleigh, North Carolina area! Marissa often picks Lake Johnson for the wonderful walking trails. This service is subject to availability.
